I have model 00613. When the temperature in the house is 69 degrees it says 72. When the temperature is 75 in the house it says 73. It only registers 72 or 73 degrees. I am very disappointed.
Nice compact unit for displaying Indoor Temperature & Humidity.
Pros: Easy read LCD display & accurate
Cons: Thermometer reading smaller than humidity size. (temp size needs larger). If the humidity gets below 24% it jumps to 16% and shows nothing in between.
Overall Summary: I purchased 3 of these, and have 1 on each floor of my house. I am happy with my purchases. You can't beat the features for the price paid for each unit.
The item worked great for 13 months then died. I guess the 12 month warranty is accurate. Item bought Nov 2014. Ceased working Dec 2015
I purchased two of these to monitor my condo humidity. When I placed them side by side in a room, one of them measured 6 % points higher than the other one!
What does that tell me!
We bought the first of these about three years ago, and it is still working like a champ. It is in a sheltered location outdoors, where it gives me the only outdoor temperature that I can trust to be right. Now, we have bought another for indoors, with the same result. We're going to buy another two or three, to place in different locations around our little farm.
Great value! Easy to use!
Min/Max feature provides the big picture.
Pleasantly surprise with quality of unit.
I highly recommend.
It bugs the heck out of me that it doesn't display odd number temperatures. Only even ones. If I just place it in our room (any room) it takes a VERY long time until the temperature changes, and when it does, it chances by 2 units all the time. I really don't like that. Our furnace thermostat can display the temperature in 1 degree increments, so I don't know why this Made in China instrument cannot... Will return it to the store.
We have two of these AcuRite 613 Indoor Humidity Monitors; one for us, one for our son. We both monitor basement humidity/temps and have found this unit to be extremely accurate and quick to respond to changes. A fresh battery lasts a very long time. Easy to use. Has a nice clip/stand assembly with a magnet, too. Makes for many placement options. Small, compact, dependable, inexpensive. Would purchase again!
I am an Inspector for a waterproofing company. I place this meter on the floor of a basement of the people who think they have water (they do). I do my inspection, then record the readings on this meter to my report. Mold, fungi, mildew are xeroplilic (capable or growing and reproducing with low availability of water) or hydroplilic (having an affinity to absorb or be wetted by water). These little guys THRIVE and SMELL between 70% to 98% RH, and from 5 to 30 degrees C. This info is on a chart on the Internet. I show them the chart, THEIR readings, and the definitions above. I am at nearly 80% close rate per inspection (the average job is about $15,000) since I got this $12.99 piece of gold... oh, yes, I also use infrared to detect mold and moisture/water BEHIND walls and inside cement block!! heh heh heh The boss bought one for each crew chief and every inspector.
I have these in several rooms both at home and in FL. They are inexpensive and great for quick reference to temperature and humidity.
We ordered this little gadget because it was inexpensive and we wanted a way to be able to determine the humidity/moisture levels in our house. And this tool has done the trick so far.
Lucky for us, the back of the tool is magnetic, so we just stuck it to our metal back door and can look at the readings whenever we walk into the kitchen.
I also really like how it keeps track of the lowest and highest humidity levels that it has experienced. It's good to know that even though it might be at 53% humidity right now, it was 70% at another time (when I wasn't looking at it).
I didn't realize how handy this product was going to be when I ordered it. I am quite surprised how much I pay attention to it now. It has a humidity sensor and also a temperature reading along with other features. Well worth buying.
Arrived promptly. I'm excited to have this hygrometer as I live in a basement apt and I'm curious about the level of humidity in the apartment. I figure this is the best way to verify to my landlord that a dehumidifier is a necessity down here!. If anything, I like knowing for my own sanity whether I'm imagining that the apt is more hot/humid than it actually is. (Right now it's reading 63% humidity with and indoor temp of 81 F....and that's with two fans blowing. *Happy to be sane*)
Nice, easy to read format. Working great! Good size where it's easy to read but not so big that's it's obvious sitting out
Bought 2 of these the other day. Opened them up, put in the battery, and they were ready to go. I bought two of them so I could install them in each of my childrens bedrooms so I could tell the range of the temp and humidity each of thier rooms. First I put these next to my house thermostat which has a current temp and humidity displayed. After 1 hour of being in the same room right next to the thermostat both of the Chaney units read exactly what the temp was, and the humidity on both units were the reading the exact same (7 units higher) then my house thermostat. I don't know if my house unit is accurate or not but at least the two Chaney units read the same for temp & humidity. If they read differently than each other than I would say they weren't accurate but since both read the exact same things I give them two thumbs up and agree this is a great buy, especially since it displays the current temp and humidity and displays the daily low/high for each. Great Product!!!! Small, lightweight, has magnet on back to stick to fridge or can use clip to attach it to belt, or anything it can clip to. It also can be placed on a desk, shelf, etc but standing it on end with the attached stilt.
This gauge works well and does what it says it does. We use it in our son's room since he suffers from severe eczema, and this lets us know when we red to run the humidifier or de-humidifier more. Really helpful. The thermometer is a bonus since I like knowing the temperature in his room.
One of the (unoccupied) rooms in my home gets very cold at night. This great monitor records the high and low over a 24 hour period, which you can see at a glance. I've used it to make sure my guests - including my favorite little guest, my granddaughter, stay comfortable.
The product does what it says and gives you a high and low for the humidity and temperature each day; so that you have a better idea of what fluctuations your plants are experiencing each day.
I keep it in my cigar humidor. It seems pretty accurate and serves its purpose quite well. I haven't had to change the battery since a year and a half ago when I bought it.
Great for my greenhouse. My flowers look so much better after using this product. YOu don't have to guess on the tempertures it displays them all.
Picked one up and wished I had bought three! Great indoor device for monitoring temp / humidity / trends.
Would buy again. I like how it keeps the high and low for the day. Works good. I recommend it to anyone looking for a thermometer and humidty reader.
Records highs and lows. If you want to see new data just take the battery out and it resets.
I needed an affordable thermometer and looked at different models and price points. This model was affordable and so far has worked great! My only complaint is the absence of a wall mounting option. It has a magnet for mounting on metal but would like some way to mount on a wall.
This was helpful moved around to adjust temperature for air conditioner and heater. Placed in different rooms on shelve, dresser and nightstand. Looked around considered one to mount on wall, but this one was better. Button for Celsius or Fahrenheit has magnet and pull out stand. Purchased AcuRite Weather Station for yard.
I bought one of those few months ago. Very accurate. Going to buy 3 more to monitor temp & humidity around the house.
This is a nice little thermometer / humidity monitor for the price. I wanted something digital but many were too much money. This was a nice low price. I have moved it around to several rooms but purchased it to see the temperature levels in my unheated basement. I was concerned about how cold it could get in the dead of winter. For this reason I love how this will display the high and low temperatures experienced.
Is all I needed for day to day monitoring of the conditions in the house. Would have liked it better if the temperature was displayed first and not the humidity but this is a minor issue. Clear numbers and appears to be accurate. It is however somewhat slow to adjust to new environments (eg moved from inside to outside and took a long time to change and give good readings)
I just bought this item the other day, looking for an inexpensive way to gauge temp/humidity, and came across this little gem. I was a bit skeptical at first , but after having compared the results to other meters within my home (a guitar case hygrometer and digital thermostat), the results seemed practically "dead on." For the price (and included display features) I find it very hard to complain about this purchase. Oh and yes...it does display in increments of 1 (degree and percent)
I have this in my greenhouse and it is great for check the previous day's high and low. Easy to read at a glance. The magnet on the back is nice too.
Seems to work find but the documentation lacks any mention of what the High/Low humidity indicator trigger points are. At what average humidity does it start saying "high"? Who knows. Other than that, I've had no complaints with the device.
It,s a wonderfull product the price was just great.I have had it for severl day,s and I have enjoyed it very much.
While I can't judge the accuracy, it seems to work properly when I do things to change temperature and humidity. The unit arrived without a battery cover. Their customer service stepped up and shipped one from my comments during product registration process.
Can't beat it for the price.
"Arrived in good shape, well packed. Others have questioned the accuracy, I'll try to address that. First, this is not a scientific instrument. If you need high accuracy, you have to pay a lot more. Second, I set it next to an Extech RH520 and the two matched to within 1% RH and 1 degree F. So, they both are wrong (possible) or the Chaney is not all that bad. Second, how to reset the min/max readings: as far as I can tell there is no way to do that manually short of removing the battery. But, you don't need to. The min/max reset themselves after about a day. I forced high readings of both temp and RH, and let the unit sit in a 'normal' environment. After a day, the highs reverted to what the room had been, so there really isn't a problem.
To sum it up: it seems to work well, takes up little space, and is inexpensive.
Addition: Contacted factory, they confirm that min/max reset every 24 hours.
I have three of these. Two are brand new and one is a couple years old. I just finished checking them for humidity accuracy (for calibration) and found that each of them was off. The older one was off by 17 and each of the new ones by 10. Of course, I can simply add to each one to get the correct humidity but I wish I didn't have to, especially with a new product. Because I understand this unit measures relative humidity, that humidity is difficult to measure accurately, and that the salt test can be affected by outside factors, I will accept the +-10 discrepancy.
-ambiguous instructions/display. my current indoor humidity ~50% but icon states "low". no information on comfort level desired, just this icon. also no information on the duration of "high-low" humidity or temperature or if possible to reset without removing battery.
-also, no way to hold clip out to act as a stand. Can't figure any use for a clip (nothing I would wear on my belt) and refrigerator magnet mount ok for kitchen if that is the room of concern?
-overall, still a good deal assuming temp/humidity is somewhat accurate.
I have acute emphysema which requires constant monitoring of the humidity in my bed room and living quarters day and night. I have two of these units and they're making my life (breathing) much more comfortable!
Bought 2 for my humidors,(cigars) did the salt check on them to see how accurate they were humidity wise...Both were 10% off, 65% instead of 75%. But as ,long as they stay at that level, I will know what the humidity is....Good value for the price.
I've been using these in my terrariums where most gauges fail within a month. The humidity levels are always 80% + and this causes problems with most units. These ones continue to work very well. I great unit at a low cost!
Local stores did not have a comparable instrument that would read humidity, so I went online to find what I thought would be an expensive professional Humidity Instrument. Acurite has exceeded my expectations, and at a very reasonable price. The extra features are useful. Very useful in adjusting the furnance humidifier."
This thing works great. I moved it from room to room and let it stabilize overnight and its great. After a few days, you get the min/max readings and they are right on. I have another similar device for over 2x the price, yes, it has larger numbers, but this one tracks right along with the expensive ones.
